Learning and Development

At Avis, we take your learning and development very seriously - which is recognised by our Investor in People status and our position in the Sunday Times 100 Best companies to work for in 2005 and 2006.

Your training and development starts on your first day - with an induction to give you the perfect start and help you to find your feet. (As opposed to throwing you straight into the job!)

Customer Service - Our award-winning training programme

Our four year training plan gives every person the opportunity to progress their career through a structured programme right through to Supervisor and Manager.

Of course, there are assessments and six monthly performance review discussions along the way, to ensure you're developing at the right pace. Our four year plan is accredited by Nottingham Business School and everyone who completes the programme will receive a certificate from the business school.

The four year plan is a mix of technical, operational, supervisory and managerial skills courses. This gives you the skills and knowledge to undertake each of the roles you undertake through the four years of the plan. We also run a number of courses outside the four year plan, to meet individual and group requirements.

Professional Development

One of our most exciting opportunities outside the four year plan is the Avis Professional Development Programme. This is another partnership with the Nottingham Business School, and allows our employees to study part-time towards a formal recognised qualification such as a diploma, or even an MBA.

Graduate Programme

We also run an annual graduate programme looking for between four and six graduates to undertake a three year programme with rotations in Operations, Sales and Marketing, HR & Training, Fleet, Finance, Pricing and Yield along with a secondment to one of our Avis Europe locations.

Personal Development

Finally, we have an annual personal development programme. This allows all our permanent employees to undertake absolutely any form of personal development at a recognised educational institution and receive £250 towards the cost each year. The development doesn't have to be work related, and as long as you formally complete the course you can apply for another award the following year.
